The 7 Pot Bubblegum White (Capsicum chinense) is a special, extremely hot chili pepper from the well-known 7 Pot Bubblegum family. This variety stands out for its striking cream-to-ivory fruits and thus forms a beautiful alternative to the classic red superhots.
The 7 Pot Bubblegum family is known for its extreme spiciness and the special feature where in some variants the color of the ripe fruit extends into the shell and sometimes even part of the fruit pulp.
The 7 Pot Bubblegum White Produces compact, oblong to slightly irregular-shaped fruits with a slightly wrinkled and pleated peel. During ripening, the fruits turn from light green to a beautiful cream-to ivory-colored color, sometimes with a soft yellowish tint.
In our own cultivation, we have found that the fruits retain their characteristic ivory-white color even when fully ripe. Even after they continued to hang on to the plant for several more weeks, no further color change occurred.
Their distinctive appearance makes this pepper a real eye-catcher in any collection of superhots.
But don't be fooled by that soft, almost innocent color! Behind that distinctive appearance lies an extremely hot chili pepper with intense and long-lasting heat.
The fruits have a fruity aroma that is characteristic of many Capsicum chinense-varieties. They are especially interesting for experienced pepper lovers who like to experiment with extremely hot sauces, chili powders and other spicy preparations.
As most people Capsicum chinense-varieties like the 7 Pot Bubblegum White require a relatively long growing season. Therefore, it is advisable to sow early.
Provide sufficient warmth, a well-aerated and well-draining potting soil, and regular, balanced fertilization.
Harvest tip: Do not wait for a red or orange discoloration! The 7 Pot Bubblegum White develops a beautiful cream-to ivory-white color at full maturity. On our own plants, this color remained intact even after being exposed to the plant for several weeks.
The 7 Pot Bubblegum White is especially interesting for lovers of extremely hot peppers.
Thanks to its light fruit color, this variety is particularly suitable for those who want to prepare a very hot sauce without the typical red color of many other superhots.
Even dried and ground into chili powder can be used in very small amounts to give dishes extra flavor.
Despite its soft, almost innocent color, the 7 Pot Bubblegum White belongs to the category of extremely hot chili peppers.
Always wear gloves when handling and avoid contact with eyes and sensitive skin. Use the fruits with caution.
