🌶️ Acrata – The unusual Venezuelan pepper with velvety leaves

The Anarchist, also known as Goat's Weed, is a special Capsicum annuum from Venezuela. This variety stands out not only for its spicy fruits, but above all for its characteristic, hairy leaf and the equally lightly hairy stems. This gives the plant a beautiful grey-green and almost velvety appearance.

The plant grows quite slender and branches well. The upright fruits appear dark green first and color during ripening through a striking almost black color eventually to bright red. As a result, fruits of different colors can be present on a single plant at the same time, which also makes the Acrata particularly attractive as an ornamental plant.

The fruits are elongated and slender and become about 5 to 8 cm long. The Acrata is known as a fairly hot pepper, with a heat level of approximately 20,000 to 40,000 SHU. The taste is described as spicy and pleasantly aromatic.

The combination of the unique hairy leaves, the upright fruits, and the spectacular color gradient makes the Acrata a true collector pepper which really shouldn't be missing from any special chili collection.

🍴 Culinary Tip

The Acrata is exceptionally well-suited for great for use in spicy sauces and salsas, but can also be dried and ground into chili powder or chili flakes.
